The Xenforo 1.1 release was the first time I'd ever heard of CSS Sprites. I almost gave up when I first heard about them but after looking into it, I can see that they're easy enough to use (even for luddites like me). However one thing is confusing me. Why not just have one images folder for all styles with one mega CSS Sprite which contains node icons, smilies, default avatars, social bookmark icons, post/thread buttons and navigation icons. Is it because inexperienced webmasters would find that too daunting or because there is an optimal size for CSS Sprites and a mega CSS Sprite would be too big and defeat the purpose of optimisation?
