Duplicate Cannot delete smilies (Opera 22.0.x/Android 4.4.4)

On the Android OS 4.4.4/Opera 22.0.x browser, one cannot delete their smilies.

No really... You cannot.

What happens is when pressing the backwards button after a smile the cursor, the cursor will actually delete one character before the smile then jump over the smile to delete all the characters before the smilies. It does not matter how many times you reposition the cursor after the smile or a series of smilies. The smile will not delete.

Note: I have not tested other mobile browsers or other mobile Operating Systems combinations. If others could test their mobile browsers to confirm. It would be much appreciated.

This is a browser issue that has been reported several times before - search through the closed bug reports and you'll likely find them.

The solution (at least until the browsers are fixed, if ever) is to switch to the BB Code editor (spanner on paper button on the right) and delete the smiley BB Code from there, then switch back to the rich text editor.
