XF 2.3 Can you run a single forum installation via multiple URLs?

I know this can be done somehow, but I wish to understand how. Here is an example:

Saltwater Reef Aquarium Forum

reefs.com

Manhattan Reefs - Saltwater Aquarium Forum

www.manhattanreefs.com

These are (nearly) identical forums, with a few subforums on/off but same content and everything

How?

Do these 2 forums effectively share the same database somehow? I could see that working I guess, except for how the emails are generated maybe.
