Can 2.2 betas be updated in admin for each new release?

No, go to admin, see there are updates, hit update from the admin and done.

Or I have to download the new release, upload via FTP and then run the upgrade URL?

Just make sure that your option https://yoursite.com/admin.php?options/groups/basicBoard/#upgradeCheckStableOnly is not set to "Only check for stable upgrades"

I wouldn't upgrade your live site though, the betas are stable but unexpected issues can arise and mess up the site.
