XF 2.2 Best way to upgrade forums

Hi.

I’m planning to upgrade my forums soon from xf 2.2 to xf 2.3 , what’s the best way to do it?

Disabling all addons , and performing the upgrade or I’ll have ti uninstall them all?

Disable, then install then re enable. Most likely no issues as 2.2 to 2.3 is not a significant upgrade. Its considered minor.

Cheers, I have 3 forums, my oldest one has around 100 addons, which I think might be a struggle .

FYI, you can enable or disable all add-ons quickly by editing your src/config.php

$config['enableListeners'] = false;

If you look back at the threads that were created after 2.3 came out, you would see that a lot of addons were creating errors during and after the upgrade.

Kindof correct. The majority of well created add-ons were updated easily.
Hence, why I said to disable all add-ons via src/config.php then test.
ALWAYS TEST ON A CLOSED FORUM

It goes without saying but I'll say it anyway, no matter how you go about it always take a backup of your database and files first

Honestly nothing is stopping you from doing it now. It's just prep. 100 add-ons sounds daunting but I am sure they have all been updated (by now). Schedule a day and get it done. You'll be happy you did.

I have a lot of premium addons which I have to upgrade them too. Need to save some funds. Plus I have another 2 forums to upgrade. I might have issues with one as it's heavy with addons.

Thanks, definitely will do that. Also lucky my host always does copy of backups.

One thing to save time in the final (live) upgrade is to work on the style in your test upgrade and export the style so at least that should then work seamlessly via an import when you come to do the live forum.

I definitely planning to keep styles after upgrade. Will have to make some tests as well.
