By default it caches posts which are longer than 120 characters, and take longer than 0.05 seconds to parse. I still have >600mb of posts in the bbcode parse cache table.

But my users love complex bbcode

Technically yeah, but it really doesn't help that it gets every post recently viewed stuff in there.

But I haven't been able to get page compression to reliably work with xtrabackup and galera clustering is even more flaky with it enabled.

it's a known issue for xtrabackup and mariadb innodb page compression incompatibility !

You might not need to use the bbcode parse cache output then!

Have you tried truncating the table to see if it gets repopulated?

Without using this addon, it has almost 2gb of data on that table.

I guess leave it and see? If nothing shows up, then you didn't have any benefit for having the feature enabled, but at least that is useful to know!

But still no data on xf_bb_code_parse_cache table.
So removing this addon and disabling that feature also .
