"Ban" emails that are verified?

I don't mind if people use anonymous email services like proton.me.

What I do mind is them verifying their email and immediately posting.

I'd like to put these users into a group "Post content without approval"→Never. This way, they can post and I can moderate or ban without it hitting the public view.

I know I can do various things like make them upload an avatar, etc., but that just makes it harder on all other users.

Or, any other suggestions from shady email providers?

I see I can also ban them with a usergroup promotion, but it'd have to require a cron job to run every second to not let them through.

I'm sure it'd require custom development to add specific email providers to groups, even if verified...

I think the suggested method is to have the restrictions on registered user group and promote users to an additional group with no moderation once they cross a certain post threshold.

I suppose that would work, but then you'd have to validate every single new member when there's a higher chance they're coming from proton.me, etc., to spam.

The user experience would be quite dull if an admin couldn't moderate their first post right away, nor the replies they want to hop into.

Being in an opposite timezone, that could impact engagement.

if you are worried about links, you can put first few posts in moderation if they have a link (or some particular text).

if you are subscribed to @AndyB addons, this addon also sort of helps.

though i would have liked a bit more flexibility with this addon lol.

They're not necessarily even spamming links. Just "interesting" chunks of text that someone might research and find.

yeah i mean, there is no easy solution for general text unless you are ready to moderate first few posts of all new members manually.

askismet support in backend was designed to catch spammy content but it mostly catches false positive for me these days.

I don't want an email at 12AM when someone from New York wants to post at 11AM 😅

Ok, looking through the book they posted, it does seem like they posted a "link".

if you want to see Actual Purpose of human life then see this link : ( triple w ( d . o . t ) spamlink ( d . o . t ) c . o . m {Bookmark it })

I just add that to regex and they'll post w 3 times d0t spamlink d0t com. :cautious:
