Backup

Hey gang.

I have poked around the forum, but I cannot seem to get a definitive answer. Is there an 'easy' backup solution for XF? i.e. Plugin where you either manually, or schedule a backup job, and it zips up everything you need? The solutions I see out there are somewhat manual. Backup DB, backup internal folder, and export.

The server I am running does not have cPanel or DA, so no easy button via Control Panel

A search in the Resource manager yielded this other add on too.

This is your best out-of-the-box add-on. I used it for a few weeks before I began writing my own version.

It did almost everything I wanted, the only problem I had at the time was I couldn't get it to save x month backups, x week backups, x day backups, you are only able to save x backups. Not really a dealbreaker, I just wanted something more tailor made to my set-up.

This is something i struggled with a bit years ago when i was starting out and getting my first forum going properly, do you have some more info for us, if we can understand where your at and where you want to go with this it will easier to help
Do you have somewhere for the backups to go or are you just having them on the server for the minute ?

On my setup i have made a 'backups' folder on my server and have a couple simple scripts that execute overnight that make a file dump and database dump for all domains, this then get transferred to a NAS drive for redundancy, in a perfect world this is a good thing to aim for but if you can at least get some form of backup process running even if its on the server its a starting point

As above i will happily share my scripts with you if it helps but all depends what OS you are running

What setup are you running (server/software etc) ?
What are you trying to achieve (single local backups or multiple fully automated off site ) ?
What is your skill level, do you have CLI access and are you comfortable using crontab ?
