XF 1.4 Automatically mark post as read

I have a thread where information gets archived on a daily basis. I have the node set to not show in 'new posts', but my users still see the post daily as an unread post and have to 'mark forums' as read or go read it. Is there any way to for a post (or all posts in a node) to always appear as 'read' to users?

Where is the thread showing as unread?

Unchecking 'Include threads from this forum when users click "New Posts"' should prevent it showing in the feed.

It's not possible to stop it showing as unread in the forum though.
