Add-on Automatically assign user group based on thread prefix (e.g. "Approved")

Hi!


I'm looking for an add-on (or a customization) that can automatically assign a user to a specific user group when a thread receives a specific thread prefix – in my case, when a whitelist application is approved.

What I need:​

• When a thread in a specific forum receives the "Approved" prefix, the thread creator should automatically be added to a specific user group.
• It should support assigning a primary group.

If not possible, I would like my staffs to be able to edit the primary group of a user through the profile page of a user, and not the ACP. Thankies.

Instead of a prefix, it can be done with an Approved checkbox on the user profile using @Paul B's guide.

I think the first option is designed for the users themselves so you might want to look at the second option.
