I recently upgraded my forum from Xenforo 2.2.x to 2.3.8. Since the upgrade, my users have noticed a change in behavior regarding thread watching that feels like a bug or a missing setting.
The Issue:
Before the upgrade (v2.2): When a user "liked" or reacted to a post in a thread, the thread would be automatically added to their Watched Threads list (a bell icon would appear in the thread list). This allowed them to receive notifications for any future replies automatically.
After the upgrade (v2.3.8): Reacting to a post no longer triggers the "Watch Thread" action. Users now have to manually click the "Watch" button at the top of the thread if they want to stay updated.
My Questions:
Is this a known bug in Xenforo 2.3.x, or was this a deliberate change in the core logic?
Is there a new setting or a specific toggle in the Admin Control Panel (ACP) that I might have missed to re-enable this "Watch on Reaction" behavior?
How can I restore the previous functionality? Many of my users rely on this to keep track of active discussions they've engaged with.
Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
