XF 2.0 Auto merging of posts

With Invision boards if a user post to a topic and then posts again before someone else has replied within a set time frame, then their posts are merged into one.
Is this a feature that can be adopted into XF or is it available as an add-on?

They've released it for free, and it may end up getting picked up by @Ozzy47 or someone else.

I'd actually like to see it added to core at some point.

I stopped posting in a forum due to auto merge.

It was impossible to update the thread with new information (crucial due to the nature of the forum) - additional posts were merged with the previous one and the thread never surfaced again, so members were unaware.

Dreadful feature.

Yeah I wouldn't use it unless it has a time limit for merging, but I get a lot of people who will just respond to multiple posts within minutes.

That said, alerting people upon post merge, and having cutoff for when merges happen basically makes the feature less tedious.
