XF 2.2 Attachments in Quotes

I've remediated this issue using an addon, but is there a "native" way to display uploaded-attachments in quotes for all posts on my site?

No. Attachments are only rendered in the post they are uploaded to when using the attach tags.

Elsewhere they need to be embedded to display.

So all uploaded images would need to have some sort of alt text in order to display natively in a quote?

No, they need to be embedded into the post. Only way to get quotes to show the quoted images instead of a link is with an addon (as you’re using) or custom development.

Oh, so maybe I'm missing something.

What is an "attach tag" in the context of an uploaded image? If that is a requirement to display an uploaded-attachment within a quote (that was a mouthful)

Attach tags are used when you attach an image to a post.

That is the expected behavior.

I've found other posts on this with a similar response. It appears that "attach tag" isn't relevant, an uploaded-attachment just won't ever display in a quote without an addon.
