Such good news, I enjoy their site, but how I hate those threaded replies that they've used for years. No doubt there will be moans from those who dislike change; but XF is ten times better that the system they've been using.
Hopefully, DPReview will convince XenForo to add threaded view.
Your amazing design is what kept me a dedicated member since 1999. This new design pretty much ends it for me.
Dpreview write in their announcement:Maybe getting a big photo site like this on board will give the XF team a nudge to give the media gallery a much needed proper revamp.
Hard to imagine that they are referring to the XF Media Gallery add on here. If they do their photo gallery until now must have been abysmal. This update will deliver significant performance improvements and introduce new features, including a mobile-responsive design, enhanced photo galleries, and an all-new direct messaging system that supports group conversations.

However, they made a video about the change and you can see their Gallery there:
I was thinking the exact same thing!Hard to imagine that they are referring to the XF Media Gallery add on here. If they do their photo gallery until now must have been abysmal.
As until now, according to their announcement, they have relied on a self-baked forum software they should have staff able to do that. On the other hand it is a bit strange for such a huge forum to move to XF now, given that 2.4 is "almost ready". The more with massive customizations that would probably have to reworked with a major update of XF. This could indicate that 2.4 will be delayed further and - as such a big migration will typically be planned for quite some time in advance - maybe they decided that they did not want to wait longer as no release date is in sight. On the other hand they are on Cloud, which means (at least normally) XF decides about the pace when they will be upgraded to 2.4 (and they will have to have their custom add ons prepared by then). Possible that with such a huge customer things are a bit different or - which would be awesome - that with 2.4 the media gallery will finally get some love from XF.At the start of the video the admin explains that additional features are coming. Maybe they are enhancing XFMG with a plugin.
I remember dpreview was the best camera site back in the day.

EDIT:Interesting feedback
This switch to an off-the-shelf piece of forum software has dummied down the site to such an extent that I suspect many of us who've been here for years will gradually drift away.
Is this your comment or someone else's that you copied over?I've been a member here for over 20 years and I know that with the threaded view it was easy to follow a sub-thread that one might be interested in or even in which one might be participating. That's now impossible. Some posts would have 100 or more replies, and it was easy to find what we were looking for. But now with this flat view and with the full text rather than just the heading of every post being shown, it becomes quite laborious to follow a discussion. This is ESPECIALLY so if one has to scroll through page after page to get to the most recent content!!! dpReview has been an invaluable resource for so many photographers for decades because it made it so convenient to communicate in a meaningful manner with others. This switch to an off-the-shelf piece of forum software has dummied down the site to such an extent that I suspect many of us who've been here for years will gradually drift away. There are still resources I will come to this site for, such as camera reviews and comparisons, or industry news. But I doubt I'll be visiting the forums much in the future.
Sub-threads are important too![]()
I would rather state the opposite. While i like threaded views in general in extrensive discussions and preferred them in the usenet 30 years ago whenever I hit threaded views in forums today the implementation seems pretty annoying. Especially the countless clicks on the heading of every reply is in fact way more laborious than to just read. Basically in most cases non threaded views are the better and more pragmatic approach today and even better if people do proper quoting. But now with this flat view and with the full text rather than just the heading of every post being shown, it becomes quite laborious to follow a discussion.
Copied. It's this post by ppage on their site: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/threads/welcome-to-the-new-forum-system.4820602/post-68504265Is this your comment or someone else's that you copied over?
