Are the templates managed in the DB or view files?

I am looking to potentially switch from vB to xenForo. Are the view (templates) files for this software stored in the database as with vB or in a view files?

The "templates" are stored in the database. But that doesn't restrict you to editing them via the Admin Panel. You can edit the templates in any IDE / Text Editor that supports WebDAV.

Except that it cannot be done in Windows due to OS crappy WebDAV implementation.

That's not entirely true. You can use an IDE which doesn't rely on the native WebDAV implementation. Dreamweaver is nice for this task; and Eclipse has a WebDAV plugin for it (haven't used it though) as well.

While both Windows and Mac provide their own WebDAV clients, neither is particularly good for this job, and we would recommend that you use a third party tool. Dreamweaver's built-in WebDAV implementation is very good, and we have also tested CyberDuck on the Mac.

You don't need a IDE with WebDav Support.

1. You can use NetDrive, to access the files/templates (I'm using this for years and i'm really happy with it

We are not talking about accessing files, but about accessing templates in DB using WebDAV protocol.

You can also just "mount" it as a drive.
