Are American schools really as cliquey as they're made out to be on tv?

Some of our teachers were the biggest bullies lol. One guy was renouned for throwing chairs, board erasers, books etc. at kids that irritated him in his lessons. He was old though and I guess he hadn't got used to the idea that corporal punishment etc. is illegal even in public (as in independent/private) schools now, here. lol.
 
Never cared much about others ....people used to bug me to help them specially when it's exams/quizes few teachers always moved me near them so others won't get to copy my answers .

Gangs & groups were too common asian,hispanic white,black everyone had their own gangs even Europeans had one . Girls fight was common thing we used to see everyday just for some guy lol that was hillarious . Well there were few guys who really pissed me off and one day i simply knocked down one of them and it was all over and they started acting friendly after that . I hardly went to classes for one whole semester and realized i messed up .
