APC 3.1.14

Installed APC 3.1.14 few days ago.

I found apc.php and was viewing it for a while. Is it normal for the cache to clear itself w/o restarting the server or clicking that clear opcode cache button on the top right? I noticed it happen once... there were 300+ cached files (mainly from me testing out xf and vb), then when I refreshed the page... cached files went back to 0, and the pie graph went all green.

Not sure where you got 3.1.14 from, but it was withdrawn due to bugs.

Go with 3.1.13 for now and see how you get on.

Interesting, 3.1.14 is still in the f18 repo and I've been running it without issue. Actually, I previously had some segfaulting issues that went away with 3.1.14

I downloaded the last stable version (3.1.9) from PECL and installed it that way instead (as opposed to YUM).

3.1.14 (beta) had memory issues for some that were not easily fixed so it was removed from the PECL download page shortly after release, but if it's working okay for you that's cool.
