Anyone use a third party cookie banner?

Just that. I'm not keen on the advanced cookie banner in XF - it just says "accept or reject". Some say accept, or customise. Meaning most people would just accept because customise sounds like hassle - but the option is there.

You can just change the text in phrases. No need for 3rd party integration or add-on.

There are 3 options currently:
  1. Accept all cookies
  2. Reject optional cookies
  3. See further information and configure your preferences (the equivalent to Custom settings)
You could change to something like:
  1. Accept all
  2. Minimum
  3. Customize cookie options

Thank you.

I can't actually find the phrases for these :-) Tried searching for "We_value_your_privacy" and "We_use_essential_cookies..." and "See_further .....nothing comes up.

I'd like to change the See further information wording and also the wording for third party cookies. Tried "Cookies_set_by_third_parties" too and nothing came up.

Ok found the third one - cookie_consent_configure

Now I just need the one for "We use essential cookies to make this site work, and optional cookies to enhance your experience". Because I want to add a bit about third party cookies.

You're probably looking for cookie_consent_description (Phrase)

Be aware less is more in when trying to give visitors a straight forward option to select. Adding additional text explaining 3rd party cookies in the actual notice is overkill, full cookie details (including extensive 3rd Party cookie information) is already hyperlinked in the existing text which is GDPR compliant.

Thank you. Yes I'm thinking about it. On the other hand, isn't it deceptive to only mention essential and optional cookies when third party ones aren't optional. Or are they? Having just got rid of Google Analytics I now only have youtube as third party cookies (other media sites I have embeds turned off).

So if there's an option to turn third party cookies on or off - is that actually possible with youtube? ie is it possible to decline any youtube cookies and still watch an embedded video? Or would the video just not play?

And if they actually can opt out of third party cookies, then those should be classed as optional as well.

So also - if they don't click to customise the choice and just click "reject optional cookies" presumably that's just rejecting the site's optional cookies and not rejecting third party ones? In which case they need to know about the third party ones when deciding whether to reject - maybe?

I've also set up youtube nocookie privacy-enhanced policy.
