Android WebView 142 PWA Loading Bar Issue

Hi,

A page loading bar started appearing at the very top edge of the screen in PWAs installed through Chrome. It’s not a short flicker or artifact, it acts exactly like a thin page load indicator during navigation or pull-to-refresh.

At first, we thought XenForo’s globalAction might be triggering this behavior, so we disabled it completely, but the issue remained unchanged. The same loading bar is also reproducible in the XFCommunity PWA. The issue does not occur in iOS Safari PWAs.

My WebView version is 142.0.7444.174. I’ve reported this to Google, but I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered it or found a workaround.

latest build of chrome on android has more issues. whenever i open the forum pwa, i get a blank page, i have to refresh to load the forum. also if i type a new url on an existing page, it does not process the link on first attempt. have to do it a second time to load that url. overall, it has been quite annoying.

first one appears to be reported already.

That sounds like another regression in the latest Chrome/WebView builds. It’s different from the loading bar issue I’m seeing, but it does point to broader instability on Android right now. Hopefully Google patches these problems soon.
