As designed Alert on Split Thread?

Received this one today....

Original Thread is this one:
So who's going to migrate their LIVE site to 1.2

I have replied in that one, and get alerts for it as messages are posted, etc.

The "Todd Sweeney" split happened sometime today, which resulted in this thread:

I haven't replied in that broken off thread, yet I get an alert that Adam Howard had replied to that thread. I wasn't even aware the thread existed until the alert, and it wasn't something that I was interested in chatting in.



Is this normal behavior (reason I was thinking it was a bug obviously)?

He replied before the split, which means an alert was generated for the reply. The alerts are built based on current state, so it built it using the new information.

If he replied before it was split, wouldn't it have been an alert on the other topic then? Those are immediate.

Reread my last reply, and this reply from Mike. The text (and hence alert) reflect its current state. Since it doesn't record the 'correct' state, it will display using the new information.
