XF 1.2 After usergroup degradation signature persists?

Not sure if the following is working as designed or not. I am building a nice set of extra features for our premium members and having signatures (no images ) is one of the requests.

I have added the proper permissions to my test account and when adding a line it does show up nicely. However when reverting the test account user from premium back to a normal user the signature persists.

Is there away to have a signature disappear after demoting a user automatically to the normal member group after the subscription runs out?

No, that isn't in the core software. The signature permissions apply once an edit happens (on the actual signature). You will need an add-on for this.
