Aethera - Premium orbital-glass XenForo 2.3 style for desktop and mobile.

View attachment 343206

Aethera is a premium dark XenForo 2.3 style built around an orbital-glass visual identity, electric cyan illumination and restrained violet energy accents.

Designed as a complete style rather than a simple colour variation, Aethera gives XenForo its own distinctive atmosphere while preserving the familiar structure and usability your members already know.

Eggy updated Aethera with a new update entry:

Aethera 2.3.12 Rev 2

Aethera 2.3.12 Rev 2 is now available.

This update was inspired by a pre sales customer request and felt like a natural fit for the direction of Aethera.

This update adds a new desktop layout width option, giving admins the choice between Aethera’s original Full width presentation and a new Narrow width layout.

Full width remains the default, so existing sites will keep their current appearance after updating.

The new Narrow width option gives Aethera a more...

Hey
Just wanted to provide feedback, I went to your board to test out the styles, while on the default "Eggy", everything performs fine, it's snappy, fast. Normal performance.

Switching to either Aethera or Lunareth, and it lags heavily. Switching back to Eggy fixes the problem.

Thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify, Aethera and Lunareth aren’t meant to be public demos on Eggy. I only had them enabled temporarily so I could privately show a customer a few areas, as quite a lot of Eggy itself is heavily customised and hardcoded. I’ve just tested the same switching and browsing myself and everything is loading instantly here, so I can’t reproduce the lag at my end.

I’m also in the UK and the server is UK based, so depending on where you’re connecting from, latency could possibly be playing a part too.

Well yes, if the entire page was slow on all styles I would have expected that, but it's only happening on 2/3. Your screenshots didn't show what everything would look like, and I do prefer to demo styles first.

It's up to you, I'm just pointing out what may discourage people from purchasing.

I do appreciate feedback, but for it to be useful I need a little more to go on.

If Aethera specifically felt laggy for you, could you let me know which pages you noticed it on and what exactly felt slow? At the moment I’ve tested it further myself and another customer has also tested it through native XenForo pages, and neither of us can reproduce the issue.

Without knowing where you experienced the slowdown, there isn’t really anything specific I can investigate.

The main forum index.

Understandable, if you can't reproduce it, I have nothing to gain from it anyway. All good.

Thanks for confirming it was the main forum index.

I took another look at this since you specifically mentioned the main forum index.

Aethera was never set up as a public demo, but I still wanted to properly check what you were experiencing rather than just dismissing it because I couldn't reproduce it.

I've now tested the forum index repeatedly with Aethera enabled. Lighthouse was consistently showing the page beginning to render in around 0.3–0.4 seconds, with a Speed Index around 1.1–1.2 seconds and zero layout shift.

I've also recorded a live video below using the forum normally under Aethera so people can see the actual behaviour for themselves rather than relying on screenshots or synthetic results alone.

I still can't reproduce the lag you're describing, and the customer I was originally demonstrating the style to didn't experience it either.

That doesn't mean you didn't experience something different at your end, but without being able to reproduce it there's unfortunately not much more I can diagnose. If you spot something specific in the video that behaves differently from what you experienced, I'm happy to look into it.

Is there a demo I can check out?

Of course, you’re welcome to have a look at Aethera here:

Just a quick heads up that some areas of Eggy won’t be fully representative of the style outside of native XenForo pages, as quite a lot of the site has heavily customised and hardcoded content, particularly areas such as the homepage.

Aethera is currently set to its default full width layout. If you’d prefer to see it with a more traditional narrow forum feel, I’d be happy to switch that setting in the ACP for you as well.

I got a connection error at that URL.

I got a connection error at that URL.

I’ve tested the exact same URL locally in a few different browsers, both logged in and logged out, and it’s working normally each time.

I’ve also tested it remotely through Browserling using a completely separate browser environment, and the same URL loads Aethera correctly there too.

So at the moment I’m not able to reproduce a problem with the link itself. It may be something specific to your connection or browser session, such as a temporary routing issue, Cloudflare verification, VPN/proxy behaviour, an extension, cached browser data, or a brief connection hiccup.

If you can let me know what connection error you’re actually seeing, or post a screenshot of it, I’m happy to take another look.

Code:
Server Not Found

Firefox can’t connect to the server at eggy.net.

That error isn’t actually related to the Aethera demo URL. Firefox is reporting that it can’t resolve/connect to eggy.net itself, before XenForo or the style switch is reached.

I’ve just tested eggy.net again remotely through Browserling using Firefox on a separate Windows environment and it resolves and loads normally there as well.

This now looks more like something specific to your DNS, network, VPN/proxy or local browser environment. If you’re able to try another connection or DNS resolver and let me know whether the same thing happens, that would help narrow it down.

Just to add, I can only diagnose what actually reaches Eggy. I can’t control how your own ISP, DNS, VPN/proxy, browser or network route connects to my domain/server before that point.

For a practical comparison, try the same URL through Browserling.com. I’ve tested it there myself using a completely separate remote browser environment and Eggy/Aethera loads normally.

If it works through Browserling but not through your own Firefox connection, that would strongly suggest the issue is somewhere local to your connection or browsing environment rather than the demo itself.

No worries, get some sleep.

If you’re still seeing the same issue later, try the URL through Browserling as suggested. If that also fails, please post a screenshot showing the URL and the actual error and I’ll take another look.

Just to clarify where my diagnostics can realistically go, I can only investigate connections that actually reach Eggy and the server itself. I can’t diagnose issues within your own network, ISP routing, DNS, VPN/proxy, browser setup or other local connection settings from my end.

At the moment I can’t reproduce any issue with Eggy or the Aethera demo, either locally or through separate remote browser testing.

Eggy updated Aethera with a new update entry:

Aethera 2.3.12 Rev 3 released

Aethera 2.3.12 Rev 3 is now available.

This update improves logo customisation by wiring Aethera back into XenForo's native logo controls.

  • The upper-left Aethera logo can now be changed directly through ACP → Appearance → Styles → Aethera → Style properties → Basic options → Logo
  • Removed the hardcoded navigation logo dependency
  • Custom logos now display correctly in the Aethera header
  • Existing navigation sizing, placement and visual treatment are preserved

Eggy updated Aethera with a new update entry:

Aethera 2.3.12 Rev 4b released

Rev 4 focused on member profile pages and fixed areas that were not keeping the normal Aethera colour scheme. Profile tabs, navigation and buttons now use the proper dark navy and cyan styling, while custom profile banners and backgrounds remain untouched.

Rev 4b adds one final profile fix for the footer, which could still inherit the wrong colour on customised profile pages.

Rev 4b includes everything from Rev 4 as well as all previous Rev 3 fixes and improvements.
