Add-On GoFundMe like feature

It would be cool if XF’s own forums had ‘GoFundMe’ like feature so members with an add on that’s 95% what they need could fire up a GoFundMe type action to encourage the dev to develop the XYZ feature they need in the existing add-on. If enough people chip in, it gets done.

Simple Example:
I need this calendar add-on to have an api endpoint to do XYZ. Add-on dev says $123, then people that also need the api can throw a few bucks in.

Helps the add-on devs get serious feedback on where the community wants to go and helps XF customer’s possibly get the little tweaks they need to make an add-on meet their needs.

I've seen a donations addon for that sort of thing. But as what has been said already, it's not really wanted on here because of scams.

I don't need it for my forums, I would like to see it on THIS forum to be used in the XenForo resources and add-ons section where devs list their add-ons. That was they can run a list of potential updates to their add-on people could fund.

This is one of those ideas that sound great in theory, but very hard to implement in practice.

The fact that XF has a written policy (!) specifically prohibiting crowdfunding inform you about past experiences.
