Add-on/fun ways to handle bickering users?

A user said that on a forum she used to frequent, users who would argue would sometimes be time restricted to posting in a "take it outside" forum so that those two users could only argue with each other in a specific thread on a specific forum until they got it out of their system.

Does anything like this exist or anyone aware of add-ons that kind of facilitate problematic users in a similar way? Just curious.

Thanks in advance!

Discourage, forget about them for several years, and gaslight them when they report having issues with the site by saying "had our host look at things, and there are no issues on our end".

Have one user who is at year 7 of this treatment.

freedom of speech and thought should be the basis of any community!
A good administrator should limit himself to moderating bad words and not expect others to write what he wants!

My standard approach:
  1. delete the bickering - it doesn't add any value and lowers the tone of your forum
  2. if they continue, thread ban the users
  3. if they take it to a new thread, warn them
  4. if they don't stop, ban them

That's not what bickering users is about, though. It's when you have two (or more) users who keep getting into pointless fights, disrupting threads.

Last time I had this happening, I installed Moderator Panel by @AndrewSimm and used the Force Ignore feature. Kept it on long enough for things to cool down (neither was a terrible person or anything, they just got off on the wrong foot with each other). Also, both were mods when it started so I booted them both off the team until the dust settled, at which point one didn't want to mod anymore and the other ended up taking a site break due to health issues.

Yeah, mods bickering in public is a huge issue.

Mods that cause problems aren't staying as mods.

Very new, my first forum at about 20 years old and over 55k users and on social media I manage about 1 million users...

55k members is on the low side for a ~20 year old forums; that could be down to subject, but even then there are very niche forums that started ~3 years ago with more members than that.

Also how many active members on social media? Reports come out year after year about much of social media being bots or zombie accounts, so it's unrealistic to expect that many to be real numbers now. Managing a social media audience is not the same as managing a forum though 🤷‍♂️.

This person keeps telling us how we should turn forums into social media though.

All i do is thread ban them.
There's no fun way of doing things.
It's because people get upset at you and will take it through the courts.
