XF 1.5 Account upgrade question.

Hypothetically, let's say I have a friend and I want to give him a paid account upgrade for free. I realize I can just add him to the user group with those permissions, but let's say I only want to give it to him for a certain time period, like a first month free or a year in return for a favor or as a gift or something.

Is there a way I can upgrade his account from my end without going through the paypal thing, AND still have it automatically expire after a certain time period?

The reason I ask is, I'm going to start a crowdfunding campaign for my forum, and I want to give donors a free account upgrade, with different time lengths for different contributions. So for example, give someone a year upgrade for a donation of 25, or a five year upgrade for a donation of 100.

Yes.

Admin Control Panel -> Users -> List Active Upgrades

From there you can manually add or remove a member to any upgrade.

Doesn't look like I have that option. I haven't installed the update that just came out today, so if it's brand new then that would be why. I'm using 1.5 that was up to date until just today.
