About to make the move from VB, link redirect?

Hey guys :)

I have been using VB (currently 4.2) for about thirteen years and so this will be a major shift for me and my community, a very positive one I am expecting. I have a few questions before I make the change over to XF.

- What happens to the link structure, will my old vb links still exist in terms of SEO or will they be rewritten? If so, what is the best way to mass redirect all old VB links to new XF links?

Thanks
Storm

With the redirect scripts in place, almost all of your old links will be redirected to the new links. Search engines will eventually replace your old links and it is usually for the better :)

My suggestion is to take a snap shot of your current database, create a test site and migrate your forum to XenForo and configure your redirect scripts so you can check that your url structure is working as expected.

They'll be rewritten. You can do that using a special redirection add-on available in the Resources Manger, or using .htaccess rules. Personally I prefer mod_rewrite htaccess rules.
