Today, September 9, 2016, marks the one-year anniversary of my mom and me having to have Maggie put to sleep.

@Amaury, you will always have (until you die) an empty place for a loved pet. I still remember our first dog (and it's passing), and that's been over 45 years ago. You can never replace them, but you can provide a home for another. That's why now our dogs are not "registered" ones, but ones we get from either the shelter or rescue dogs.

We have a new puppy now. A red heeler (or Australian cattle dog) who was born on May 26, 2016, and we got him on July 22, 2016.
