XF 1.1 500 internal server error

I'm trying to install xenforo for the 1st time on my server and it keeps timing out right after I click begin installation. I just installed xenforo for someone else on their hosting and I had no troubles. I'm not sure if it's me or my server. I'm using ixam-hosting.com because he's a good friend of mine and I've used him for a year or so now. But it's just not letting me! anything helps!

A 500 ISE error is very generic. It is an error returned by your server. To discover the exact cause requires consulting with your host to pull the error logs on the server. Many times this error is caused by an overly restrictive mod_security rule, or some other server module. Contact your host.

Yeah, I had the same issue with mybb a while back. It ended up being an issue with mod_security. I imagine it's the same issue again. I just opened a ticket with him, now I wait I suppose.

Update after talking to my host. My connection timeout is at 120 seconds currently. And mod_security is completely disabled? Any new ideas?

What does the error log on the server say? A specific error message will tell us what the problem is.

He increase the timeout to 300 seconds and it works now. I'm not sure why you'd need such a large timeout.
