Does this also detect profile posts? I can see a use for this to use it as a tool for the first 5 posts made, which is where most spam is posted, but they tend to shift between profile posts or thread posts.

Can I assume if this addon is set to 5, then any detections it holds in moderation are not counted towards the users post count? I can see a solid purpose for this, but would also be useless if all you have to do is post x number of spam posts that are held in moderation and then beyond they go live.

It seems that posts on moderation are not taken into account anyway.

Well, this is how XenForo's spam checker works. After a certain number of messages, new posts simply stop being checked for spam.

Does this apply to the different types of threads? Articles, Q&A as well as just discussion threads? I had a very clear spam from a new member get through on an article this morning, their first post, the bold was linked:
