[XenChef] Gear Locker: Member Gear Lists 1.0.1

No permission to buy ($39.00)

What does Gear Locker actually do?

Gear Locker lets members create public Gear Lists on your XenForo forum. A Gear List is a member-owned list of gear, tools, equipment, setups, rigs, kits, or collections. Each item can include details such as name, category, brand, model, notes, optional image, optional additional info link, showcase status, visibility, and display order.

Who is Gear Locker for?

Gear Locker is for any forum where members regularly talk about what they use, own, recommend, build with, shoot with, record with, drive, carry, cook with, fish with, camp with, or work on. It can fit many different communities, including photography, guitar and music, PC builds, gaming setups, automotive, audio, home theater, woodworking, fishing, camping, outdoors, fitness, BBQ, cooking, maker, electronics, and workshop forums.

Does Gear Locker require XenForo Resource Manager?

No. Gear Locker does not require XenForo Resource Manager. It is its own add-on and can be used on a normal XenForo 2.3.x forum without XFRM installed.

Does Gear Locker require XenForo Media Gallery?

No. Gear Locker does not require XenForo Media Gallery. Gear Locker has its own optional item image support. Future integrations may be considered, but XFMG is not required for the 1.0 release.

Can members upload images for gear items?

Yes, if item images are enabled by the admin. Admins can control image settings, including maximum file size, maximum image width, and maximum image height. Members may also be allowed to hide the image for a specific item if that option is enabled.

What are showcased items?

Showcased items are items a member wants to give extra importance. They are shown first and may also be used in small Gear List previews around the forum. This is useful for a member’s main camera, main guitar, favorite tool, primary PC setup, main fishing rig, most important shop item, or anything else they want people to notice first.

Can admins change the wording from “Gear List”?

Yes. Gear Locker includes settings for the public-facing label and the user menu label. This means different forums can use wording that fits their community, such as Gear List, My Gear List, Setup, Rig, Kit, Loadout, Toolbox, or something similar.

Where do Gear Locker links appear?

Gear Locker can show links in several member-facing areas, depending on the admin settings. Supported placements include the user menu, post author/member area, member card, and member profile area. Admins can choose which placements make sense for their forum.

Can members control who sees their items?

Gear Locker includes item visibility controls so a member can choose whether an item appears publicly. The add-on is mainly designed for public member Gear Lists, not private inventory management, but the visibility option gives members some control over whether a specific item is shown.

Can admins manage member-created items?

Yes. Gear Locker includes an ACP Gear Item Manager. This gives admins a central place to review and manage Gear Locker items from the admin side. It is useful for support, moderation, cleanup, and troubleshooting.

Does Gear Locker include category presets?

Yes. Gear Locker includes starter category presets for several common community types. Presets are meant to help admins launch faster. They are only a starting point, so admins can still add, remove, rename, disable, and reorder categories to fit their own forum.

Is Gear Locker a marketplace or classifieds add-on?

No. Gear Locker is not a marketplace, classifieds system, payment system, or sales tool. It is for letting members display what they use. It does not handle buying, selling, offers, checkout, payments, or classified listings.

Is Gear Locker a private inventory manager?

No. Gear Locker is not intended to replace a private inventory or asset management system. It is focused on public member Gear Lists that other members can view.

Does Gear Locker edit XenForo core files?

No. Gear Locker is a normal XenForo add-on and does not require XenForo core file edits.
