Display XenForo's latest activity and news feed in an AJAX-powered widget.
Let visitors follow community activity with automatic updates, a manual refresh button, and filters for content types and forum nodes. A new activity indicator keeps older items in place while letting visitors choose when to load new activity.
Features:
AJAX Loading: Load activity without refreshing the page.
Refresh Button: Manually update with one click.
Auto-Update: Set automatic refresh intervals.
New Activity Indicator: Keeps loaded older items in place and shows a button when new activity arrives.
Content Filtering: Exclude specific content types or forum nodes.
Useful for:
Active Communities: Give visitors a convenient view of recent community activity.
Forums with High Traffic: Highlight recent posts, reactions, and updates in a compact widget.
Moderation & Staff: Follow new content and interactions from one place.
FAQ:
Why does the widget show fewer items than configured or an empty feed?Increase the Overfetching multiplier in the widget settings. Like XenForo's standard activity feed, the widget fetches Max items × multiplier records before checking which ones the visitor can view. XenForo uses a multiplier of 2: with Max items = 3, only 6 records are checked. If too many are filtered out, the widget shows fewer items or "The news feed is currently empty." Keep Max items at 3 and try a multiplier of 4 to check 12 records. This improves the chance of displaying all 3 items but does not guarantee it.
Does the widget bypass viewing permissions? No. Visitors only see activity they have permission to view.
How can visitors check for new activity?Use the refresh button or configure an automatic update interval.
