[MC] Social Profiles 1.1.3

Social Profiles lets members list their gaming and social accounts, from PlayStation and Steam to Discord and Bluesky, and shows them as icons beside every post, on member profiles and in member tooltips. Members fill in their handles once under Account › Social profiles, and anyone browsing a thread can open a profile, copy a friend code or hover over an icon to see a live gamer card. You manage the platforms from the AdminCP: 22 come ready to use, and you can add your own with any icon, colour and link.



Features

Profile icons

• Each member's platforms show as icons in the message user info, on the member profile header and in the member tooltip
• Icons link to the member's page on that platform, built from the platform's URL pattern
• Platforms without a profile page, such as Discord and Nintendo friend codes, copy the handle to the clipboard when clicked
• Hovering over a PlayStation, Xbox or Steam icon opens a preview of the member's gamer card
• Thread pages load the profiles for every poster at once, so they add no queries per post

Profile tabs

• A Social profiles tab on member profiles lists every account, with links and a copy button
• A Gamer cards tab shows each card in full, with signature code members can paste into their signature
• Each tab only appears when the member has something to show

Adding accounts

• Members enter their handles under Account › Social profiles, also linked from the account menu
• Each field shows a placeholder hint, such as "Enter your PSN username"
• Values are checked on save: links and markup are rejected, and a platform can add its own validation regex
• View your social profiles in Account › Privacy lets members choose who sees their accounts

Members by platform

• A Members by platform page under Members lists everyone on a chosen platform, with their handle beside their name
• Handy for finding people to play with on the same console or service

Platform manager

• 22 platforms ready to use: PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Nintendo, Epic Games, EA / Origin, Battle.net, Roblox, Second Life, Discord, Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Reddit, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, GitHub, GitLab, Facebook and Twitter / X
• 13 are switched on at install, and the rest are one click away
• Add your own platforms, and edit or remove any of the built-in ones
• Icon: a Font Awesome icon, an emoji or an uploaded image, with separate colours for light and dark style variations
• URL pattern and Card URL pattern with a {value} placeholder, plus placeholder text and an optional validation regex
• Edit permissions and View permissions per platform, by user group
• Drag and drop to sort, switch platforms on and off from the list, and see how many members use each one
• Export platforms to XML and import them on another forum
• Restore default platforms re-creates any built-in platform you deleted, without touching ones you have edited

AdminCP user tools

• A Social profiles tab in the user editor for changing any member's handles
• Search users by platform and by part of a handle, and open that list from the member count beside each platform

Permissions and options

• View social profile icons, View member gamer cards and View members by platform: granted to Registered on a fresh install
• Enable click to copy: adds a copy button beside every handle, on by default
• Style properties to show or hide the icons in the message postbit, member profile and member tooltip, set the icon size and their alignment in the postbit, and use a single icon colour on profile banners

Other features

• Profile links carry rel="nofollow ugc" and open in a new tab
• Icons have accessible names, such as "Steam: username", a visible focus ring, and a gamer card preview that opens on keyboard focus and follows the reduced motion setting
• Social profiles are included in the native member data export
• Deleting a member removes their profiles
• Responsive on mobile, and works in light and dark styles

FAQ

Does it contact an outside service?
The add-on itself does not. Gamer card images are loaded by each visitor's browser from card.exophase.com, which receives the handle in the image address. Switch the card off on a platform, or turn off View member gamer cards, and no card is loaded.

Which platforms have gamer cards?
PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and EA / Origin, using Exophase gamer cards. You can add a card to any platform that offers a card image at a fixed address.

I use [AH] Social Profiles. Will my members' accounts carry over?
Yes. Installing copies the values from its custom user fields into the matching platforms. Check them, then uninstall the old add-on.

Can members hide their accounts?
Yes. View your social profiles in Account › Privacy works like the native privacy options, and staff who can bypass privacy still see them.

Is there branding, and can I remove it?
Yes, a small footer credit. Removing it is free: switch it off with the Remove branding option in [MC] Core Library.

What happens when I uninstall?
Every platform and every member's profiles are removed, along with the add-on's tables and its privacy setting.
