[MC] News Aggregator aggregates RSS feeds with duplicate title detection and keyword filtering.

This is a lightweight news feed that aggregates RSS feeds with very little extra fuss or complications. This add-on's only purpose is to present news from configurable news sources. No individual pages and no comments.



Features

Aggregates RSS feeds

• Manage your sources through the admin control panel
• Individually color code each source
• Set fetch frequency between 30 min to 12 hours
• Choose which category to allow from RSS feed
• Preview a feed before saving
• Individual news items can be managed through the Admin CP and be hidden, marked as not duplicate, or hidden.

News Feed

• The News Feed displays fetched news entries with individual source filters.
• The source filters are color coded, but I have included a style property to disable color mapping.
• Includes top, bottom, and sidebar widget positions.

Latest News Widget

• Includes a latest news widget that will fit in your sidebar or anywhere else on your forum.
• You may configure which news sources to allow in each widget

News Ticker

• Includes a global news ticker which can be placed at the top of every page
• Like the latest widget news, you may configure which sources to allow.
• Users can disable the news ticker from their preferences.

Duplicate Detection

• When new items are fetched, the titles are matched against existing titles to detect duplicates and hide.
• Configurable similarity percentage in options.
• News items deemed to be a duplicate, will be automatically hidden from view. Hidden news items can be marked as not duplicate to return to view.
• You can also manually set news sources as duplicate if you choose.

Keyword Filtering

• Add keywords to filter out news items with an exact match or containing certain words.
• Batch adding keywords is supported as well.

Automatic pruning and age limit

• You can set how far back you would like to fetch feeds. Default is 30 days.
• News items will be automatically pruned in 180 days by default, unless changed in the settings.
