[MC] Community Interactions 1.0.0

Community Interactions adds polls, predictions, ratings and other one-click interactions that live inside ordinary posts. Anyone with permission can add one to a post in seconds from the editor, and members take part with a single click without leaving the thread. Predictions are scored when they resolve, so your community builds a running record of who calls it right, with profiles, leaderboards and trophies to match.



Features

Eight interaction types

• Poll: single choice, or multiple choice with a limit on how many answers each member can pick
• Prediction: locks at a close date, then gets resolved to the correct answer and scored
• Yes / No
• Agree / Disagree
• This or That: a head-to-head between two options
• Over / Under: a prediction against a line you set, locked and scored like any other prediction
• RSVP: Going, Maybe, Can't make it, with results shown to everyone
• Rating: a star scale with average and a full histogram of votes

Every type can be switched off, and the maximum number of options per interaction is configurable (default 10).

Authoring in the editor

• An Add interaction button on the editor toolbar opens a dialog with type tiles, the question, options, close date, results visibility and privacy
• Highlight lines of text before opening the dialog to pre-fill the question and options
• Inside the editor an interaction shows as a locked block with Edit and Remove, so it can't be broken by accident
• Several interactions per post, up to a per-forum limit
• Removing an interaction from a post hides it, and reverting the edit brings it back with its votes intact

One-click voting

• Vote in place: the block re-renders with results immediately, with no page reload
• Results can be shown always, after voting or after closing, with an admin default and a per-interaction override
• Vote changes and vote removal are set per interaction, each with an admin default. Removal is only offered where changes are allowed.
• Explain your vote starts a reply that quotes the interaction and says what you chose
• Anonymous interactions never reveal who voted, to anyone. Anonymous can be turned on after creation but never off.
• Live refresh keeps the results on screen current while members read (every 60 seconds by default). Guests and background tabs never poll.
• Vote milestone alerts tell the author when their interaction reaches 10, 50, 100 votes and beyond

Predictions

• A close date between a minimum lead time and a maximum horizon you set. Predictions always lock at their close date.
• The author or a moderator resolves it to the correct answer, and every voter gets an alert saying whether they called it
• Contrarian scoring: a correct call earns more when fewer people made it, so calling the upset is worth more than following the crowd
• Accuracy, contrarian points and correct calls are kept for every member
• Optional open prediction cap per member, and the author's own call can be left out of scoring

Prediction profiles and leaderboard

• A Predictions tab on member profiles: accuracy, contrarian points, rank, pending calls and best call, with resolved calls filterable by correct and missed
• Pending calls are only visible to the member themselves, so open picks can't be copied
• Leaderboard ranked by contrarian points, accuracy or correct calls, over 30 days, 90 days or all time
• The viewer's own row is highlighted, or pinned below the list when they aren't on the page
• Prediction stats on member cards and profiles, for example "Predictions: 74% · #4"
• Exclude user groups from the leaderboard, and set minimum resolved predictions to be ranked

Thread polls

• Replace native thread polls with interactions (on by default). The Poll thread type keeps its place in forum settings and thread lists.
• Poll threads can use any type the member may create, including predictions and ratings
• Convert existing native polls in one step, keeping answers, votes, close dates and vote change settings
• Uninstalling turns converted polls back into native polls

Interactions page

• A central page listing interactions from across the forum, with Trending, New, Closing soon, Predictions, Polls and Ratings tabs, plus Needs your vote for members
• Each row shows the leading answer or average, type, author, thread, vote count and votes today
• Trending ranks recent bursts of votes above large old totals, with a configurable window and decay
• What's New › New interactions, with a Needs your vote filter

Featured interactions and stance badges

• Feature one interaction from any reply above a thread's posts, live and votable on every page
• Interactions can be added to the native featured content, with the usual custom title, snippet and image
• Stance badges show what each member voted beside their replies, so you can read a debate with the sides visible

Widgets

• Interactions: a list of Trending, Needs your vote, New or Closing soon interactions
• Interaction: a single live, votable interaction, chosen by ID or picked automatically as the top trending, newest open or the viewer's top unvoted
• Top predictors: a compact leaderboard with ranking and period options

Moderation

• Close, reopen, edit and cancel interactions, with own and any permissions
• Resolve predictions, with separate own and any permissions
• Void late votes and reset votes on an interaction
• Actions by anyone other than the author go to the moderator log, and interactions are reportable
• Detail page for every interaction with its recent voters

Permissions and options

• Per-forum permissions: create interactions, create predictions, create anonymous interactions and maximum per post
• Global permissions for viewing, voting, viewing voters, managing, resolving and featuring
• Optional account age and message count requirements for creating interactions. Staff are exempt.
• Options are split across General, Predictions, Leaderboard, Engagement and Maintenance tabs

Other features

• Trophy, promotion and notice criteria: interactions voted in, created, correct calls, accuracy, contrarian points and leaderboard position
• A reference to another post's interaction renders as a compact card, so quotes keep working
• Merging posts carries interactions to the target post
• Rebuild tools for vote counts and prediction scores
• Full style property support, working in light and dark styles
• Keyboard voting, screen reader announcements and labelled controls
• Responsive on mobile

FAQ

Does it replace the native thread polls?
Only if you want it to. With Use interactions for thread polls on (the default), new Poll threads use an interaction. Turn it off and new Poll threads use native polls again, while existing interaction polls keep working.

What happens to the polls my forum already has?
They keep working as native polls. Convert XenForo polls to interactions, under Tools › Rebuild caches, turns them into interactions with their answers, votes, close dates and vote change settings.

Can members see who voted?
Yes, members with the View voters permission see a Voters list for each interaction. Anonymous interactions never show their voters to anyone, staff included.

Is there branding, and can I remove it?
Yes, a small footer credit. Removing it is free: switch it off with the Remove branding option in [MC] Core Library.

What happens when I uninstall?
Thread polls go back to native polls first: prediction outcomes are dropped, and rating polls, which have no native equivalent, become plain discussions. Every interaction, vote and prediction score is then removed with the add-on's tables, and the interaction tags left in posts show as plain text.
