Floria 1.1.0 — Special templates and live preview
1.1.0 adds Special templates, a live preview on the setup page and three new regions. Carousels you already have look the same after the upgrade; the few deliberate changes are listed under CHANGED.
Fixed
- The "See all" link in a carousel heading could not be clicked: the strip below it covered the link. The same applied to the "Edit · Turn off" line administrators see above a carousel without a heading. Both are clickable again.
New
- Special templates: a separate group on the setup page with showpiece designs that bring their own layout and motion. 1.1.0 has three: Polaroid string, Cinema and Cover flow.
- Polaroid string: square photos in paper frames, pegged to a string. Choose how they swing: Physics (they swing when the strip moves or the mouse brushes past them), Settle (they swing once when the page opens) or Off.
- Cinema, a new layout: one panoramic card in the spotlight, the cards beside it dimmed.
- Cover flow: the middle card faces you, the cards beside it turn towards it.
- Flowing column: wide cards stacked, flowing upwards on their own, for the sidebar, profiles and the new left column. Up to your style's wide breakpoint (900 px by default) and on touch screens it becomes a sideways strip that flows like the Ticker.
- Idle motion for the other templates: None, Sway, Float or Breathe. Cards move gently for a few seconds after the page opens; if the carousel advances automatically, they keep moving and stop whenever it pauses. Not used with continuous flow, and off for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
- Live preview: the setup page shows the carousel as you change it, at desktop, tablet or phone width, before you save. Nothing is stored until you press Save. "Open full size" shows the preview in a new tab.
- New region "Forum · between threads": in a discussion forum's list of threads, after the 3rd, 5th or 10th thread (you choose; sticky threads don't count). Once per page, and only when at least one more thread follows.
- New region "Home page · between categories": on the forum home page, below the category you pick and before the next one (a new carousel starts below the 2nd category). Once per page. Visitors who can't see that category don't see the carousel either. It shows in styles that use XenForo's category blocks on the home page.
- New region "Left column": a column on the other side of the page from the sidebar, on the pages you pick (it starts on the home page, forums and the gallery). On phones it opens from a button at the top of the page.
- Cinema and Cover flow load a larger image for the middle card only when that file is 2 MB or smaller; bigger files keep the thumbnail, so visitors don't download very large images.
- The setup page now warns when another carousel on the same page already has the same heading. A carousel saved without a name gets one that includes its region, and when a region holds more than one carousel, screen readers hear a number with the "Edit" and "Turn off" links on the site.
Changed
- Indicator dots now move on when you scroll by a single card (1.0 moved them only per page).
- On phones (480 px and narrower) the media type badge, the card text, the counter and the duration badge are at least 12 px, the pause button is 32 px tall, and the dots are easier to tap.
- Stacked templates use the sideways strip on every touch screen, not only up to 900 px wide.
- In styles where the link colour is too light against the background, "See all" uses the style's link hover colour so it stays readable.
- In styles that add space between widget areas, an empty Floria area no longer leaves a gap.
- In a side column, a continuous flow fits as many small cards as the column allows; the setup page says so instead of offering a card count.
- The Square grid template shows "Grid" in the setup summary.
- All eleven translations were updated for 1.1.0.
Upgrading from 1.0.x
Upload the contents of the upload folder over the old files, then run Upgrade from the Add-ons page straight away: the new files expect the templates and texts that the upgrade installs. Your carousels, regions and own templates are kept as they are.
The new texts appear in English until you import the language packs again from src/addons/Erkan/Floria/translations/ (Appearance → Languages → Import, over your existing language).
If you edited one of Floria's templates in a style, Appearance → Outdated templates lists the ones 1.1.0 changed; merge your edits there.
Coming from 0.9.x, you can upgrade to 1.1.0 directly; the upgrade notes of 1.0.0 apply.
