Each linked account remains its own XenForo user with separate posts, profile, permissions, alerts and identity.
To create a link, the request must be approved while signed into the target account. This helps prevent accounts from being linked unless the user has access to both sides of the request.

Switching accounts changes the active XenForo user, so posts and other actions are made as the account currently in use.
The add-on was originally requested by a roleplaying community that needed a maintained way to manage multiple character and player accounts. Eggy Linked Accounts has been built as a general multi-account system, so it is not limited to roleplaying forums.
It can also suit communities where members legitimately use alternate, staff, test or other separate accounts.
