Q: Does this replace XenForo's conversation system?
A: No — it sits on top of it. Every chat message is a standard XenForo conversation message, so history, permissions, and the normal inbox all keep working.
Q: Why does it need Node.js?
A: Real-time delivery needs a persistent WebSocket connection, which PHP can't hold open. A small bundled Node.js server handles delivery only — it never touches your database.
Q: Will it work on shared hosting?
A: No. You need a VPS or dedicated server where Node.js 18+ can run as a background process (works with HestiaCP, cPanel with root, Plesk, or plain servers).
Q: What happens if the Node server goes down?
A: Nothing is lost. Messages still save through XenForo and appear when conversations are opened — only instant delivery pauses. The Admin CP status page shows server health at a glance.
Q: Is installation difficult?
A: The package includes a step-by-step PDF guide with troubleshooting covering Node.js, PM2, and the reverse proxy. A full installation service is also available if you'd rather not touch the server.
Q: Is it secure?
A: Yes. Sockets authenticate with short-lived HMAC-signed tokens issued by XenForo, server-to-server pushes use a shared secret, and all permission checks run through XenForo.
