Maybe consider removing the widget block @Mike instead of making this rule? Some of us don't use the block for self promotion but like to update our profiles for clients to see new offers. That is why they follow you, to receive updates.

I didn't say it wasn't. I suggested removing the widget as many including myself like to get as much info and updates at one site if we can. I have even passed on buying some addons due to so many now only supporting add-ons via their site rather then the RM, it just gets too much to keep up with if you have to be registered and keep track of 50 different sites on what's new today.

You still have the ability to self-promote in designated areas elsewhere on the forum.

Well that's just stupid. People view status', it's not our fault they're displayed on the home page.

I understand the new rule, but dislike it. Profile posts should stay for "personal thoughts or even promotions". My opinion, but of course I will respect the new rule.
