Thanks for the reply, no I had not tried that. Could you explain how this would help with discouraging image hot linking though? The way I understand, it would still allow hot linking but the image would just be cached locally instead for a certain period of time. Also, could someone explain...
Hi all,
Is there a way to disable image hotlinking in xenForo (i.e. so that images can only be uploaded and not linked to directly)? If not, to discourage image hotlinking, would I then be best off installing an add on that converts hotlinked images to uploaded images? Thanks in advance for...
Hi all,
I have a very quick question about editing the footer in xenForo: How does one add additional hyperlinks next to the "Terms and Rules" link in the footer that's on the right side from the "Forum software by XenForo..." text?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi all - the above link took care of threads, but I'm still struggling with some other pages, e.g. member pages.
I've got a bunch of links of the form:
http://forum.pcmech.com/members/membername.html which I'd like to convert to Xenforo's standard, which is...
Thanks Mike - following that link and implementing those rewrite rules did fix those type of html links I posted above. There are a few more though that are also .html that don't quite follow this format. What did you mean by RM? Thanks again.
So I think the issue is that these URLs were generated by vBSEO a long time ago. Can I just use the script outlined here and add the rules it generates into my .htaccess file?
https://xenforo.com/community/threads/redirects-for-vbseod-urls.5098/
Thanks again.
Thanks Mike - I actually didn't add any specific rules for this URL style. However, I suppose it could be that the rules were added to the .htaccess file of the previous vB installation (and I forgot to bring them over with me). I'll check tonight and let you know.
Hi all,
I recently (within the last 4 months) upgraded my forum from vB 3.8.x to xenForo (http://forum.pcmech.com). Currently running the latest version - 1.5.2. I use Google Webmaster tools to regularly check for crawling errors and and I recently noticed that I got a bunch for my forum...
Hi all,
We recently upgraded from vBulletin to xenForo and wanted to ask if there were advanced capabilities built in to help manage conversations (i.e. what was called private messages in vBulletin). More specifically, does the capability exist to:
1) Export & Download conversations
2)...
Thanks Mike. In my case xenForo is in a directory called "testforum" while the old forum is in "forum". When I go live I want to rename "testforum" to "forum" and "forum" to "oldforum" so that the xenforo install is in forum (which was the original location for vB). If understand correctly...
Hi all,
I'm currently working to switch my forum over from vB 3.8x to xenForo. I have a question regarding redirection scripts:
Currently the vB forum resides at www.mydomain.com/forum and the xenForo install at www.mydomain.com/testforum. I also have forum.mydomain.com pointing to...
Hi guys - I got the add-on to work but had a quick follow up question: It seems that the add-on only works with new posts (i.e. parses links on posts created after it was installed). Any chance this add-on (or another) is able to look through historical posts and parse them as well? Thanks again.
Hello all,
Just recently installed xenForo and had a quick question about URL parsing. Is there an option (or add-on) available in xenForo that would take links users post, e.g.
http://www.amazon.com
and parse them automatically to the page title, e.g.
Amazon.com
Right now I see that this...
