I love XF to bits so far, but let's be honest, the search sucks in terms of results quality. I find myself just googling "site:xenforo.com/community search_term" in order to quickly find results. Try to google for "site:xenforo.com/community backup" or even just "xenforo backup" then compare it...

I'm sorry but that thread doesn't make much sense, you can get DDoSed whether you use HTTPS or not. HTTPS will only protect you and your users when logging from an unsecured location such as public Wifi.
