Sorry Brogan, it didn't occur to me that PHP might be the problem because the server told me we met all their requirements. Lesson learned.

@Brogan, The PHP version was too low. It wasn't my "area" but I should have checked up on it before. I was going to make sure we were updated to the most current version after the migration but it turns out I should have done that before the migration.

Problem now resolved, which turns out to have been a problem with the php version.

The problem though is that WHM/Cpanel seem to have changed their pricing structure. Our previous host was moving everyone to Dedicated but it was also going to cost $48-49 a month for cPanel and that's what it used to cost for a year or so. But DigNap15's point is well taken: cheapness is fine...

There were no new error messages. The last was April 9, too many connections. Server size is no problem. We don't use cPanel now and the new server sees no problems at all.
