The Discussion Forums Dominating 10,000 Product Review Search Results - Reddit's dominance and the downsides of that

Yes, I've experienced this. Heavily dependent on the sub, though. Some are more lenient than others. But just the other day I got banned for a subreddit for saying "There is nothing stopping you from doing this." The moderator claimed I was encouraging someone to commit suicide... ? Not a big...

The Discussion Forums Dominating 10,000 Product Review Search Results - Reddit's dominance and the downsides of that

I'm curious what evidence you have for this, because I've never heard this, and even way back in the early days of Reddit, it was always "don't use Reddit for life advice." This has been the case for all social media: don't trust your Facebook feed, the stuff you read on Twitter, etc. If people...

The Discussion Forums Dominating 10,000 Product Review Search Results - Reddit's dominance and the downsides of that

I'm not really sure how all the issues of Reddit can't apply to almost anywhere else. A message board that is under-modded or over-modded will have the same issues.

vBulletin 6 has arrived, what do you think about it?

Yes, I know. But the actual site in of itself is not owned or maintained by Internet Brands (or whoever creates vB these days). So they don't have control over what version of the software they are using. Thus it's an independent site.

vBulletin 6 has arrived, what do you think about it?

Technically, vBulletin.org is an independent site.

How do you compete with Reddit and FB Groups?

I've rarely, if ever, found good discussion on Facebook. It's an echo chamber that mainly consists of endless talking points. Reddit can be a place for good discussion if you find the right sub, but it's also a lot like Facebook in it can easily be overrun by spammers, trolls, etc. Forums have...

I forgot how much fun Linux can be... not!

Most of the time I run Linux in a VM instead of a native install. As I use it more as a hobbyist than full-time. And a VM usually takes care of any hardware issues.

I forgot how much fun Linux can be... not!

I've generally had good luck with desktop Linux in recent years. Ubuntu is also my preferred distro and most of the past few machines I've installed it on have had everything work out of the box. In most cases, I'll need to install a good amount of software to get the exact setup I want...

vBulletin 6 has arrived, what do you think about it?

Style wise, it looks fine. Functionally, I haven't used vBulletin in a while. So I don't know how much of an improvement it is.

Google Photos storage policy changes 2021

Just like with Stadia. You can "play anywhere," so long as you're playing it on a Pixel.

    Cancel Culture

Much of it is due to the rise of 24/7 "news" and social media. You can create a filter bubble/echo chamber/reality where only information that feeds your world view exists, and anything that doesn't feed your world view doesn't exist. It's why you see people unable to compromise anymore, because...

It's 2020.... PNG or SVG files for use as emoji/smilies?

You would need to open it in Illustrator. Photoshop doesn't do vectors, as far as I know.
