I had a similar problem when using my first and last name as the domain. I just ended up using my initals mm@domain.com or sometimes with clients I used hello@domain.com.

I have personally migrated all of my sites from A Small Orange to Digital Ocean about 3 years ago. It was a little more work, but I love them. We use Serverpilot to manage the servers at work and it seems very nicely.
