I'm just curious if during the beta (or even afterwards) if we are required to name a host. If so, is there an option to switch host (URL) after the beta is over with?
I've loved the VB3.8 and since new owners took over, VB4 is nothing but hard to use service. The XenForo systems seems to be more fluid and flexible. I have a testing host right now that I can use to put this forum on, however, the server to which my URL is on, only allows their forum software to be ran on it. I'm in the process of getting a new host but I am looking at what forum software to be used (I'm testing IB, VB, and DragonFly currently). So I'm curious if it's possible to change URL while keeping the registration the same. Maybe with a nominal fee of like $10 or so?

Do I have to have a URL when I buy it or when I download it? Can't I do a local install?

You need to enter a URL before you download it. You can just enter localhost or 127.0.0.1, but you will need to have the correct URL if you go live.
