Lack of interest Yes/No Group Permissions for Website user field

This is a core field that does not appear under Custom User Fields, so we have no control over who uses it and spammers love it. We can turn off profile editing for lower level groups but that locks all fields. How about a group setting?

Well, shoot, came today seeing if this was already an open suggestion to up vote it for exactly the reasons beerForo lists and see that the suggestion has been dismissed.

If a spammer can use that field, they are already too far in for my liking. Would rather focus on keeping them from getting that far in the first place.

I don't have premium members. But, yeah, that sounds like a good use for it.

Having this field editable for spammers is a great way to catch them.

That’s what I use it for. I check every new user that signs up, if they filled it in, they are 99.9% a spammer.
