i think forums are an excellent way of getting away from certain large social medias - there's spaces here outlined for artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, game devs, programmers, video artists, sound artists, etc etc. i should like to think we've carved out a pretty vibrant site culture even despite the somewhat broad target audience.
the site has been running for a bit over 7 months at this point, we have 626 members and 27,000 posts!
the theme is based on the stock XenForo theme, but we've tricked it out with a fair amount of customisation - including randomised community submitted banners and a few special pages - for instance, a dedicated gallery specifically for these banners
