XFtoWP with Memberpress (email user names)

So I have a WP site using Memberpress for user/content management. I have just launched XF as a forum and Im trying to get the XFtoWP plugin working with the memberpress integration option checked.

My Site is about 6 years old and MANY users have used their email address as user names so I'm seeing an issue with the plug in but it's not consistent.

In the attached screenshot, you can see two users, one has a FREE MP account and the other has a Premium MP account but they both use email as a user name.

XFtoWP threw an error on the free member but synced the Premium member.

Thoughts?

I'm not familiar with that add on myself. Have you tried to reach out to its developer? I'm asking because they can help you best with this imo.
