v 2.2 - SPAM cleaning new registrations, and newly discovered problems.

Hello folks.

I've been out of commission for close to two years now, but I'm trying to get my brain working again with Xen.

In the last couple of years, I've run into some new issues that I'm finally getting around to working on, and I need some guidance.

First off, during registration, I swear there used to be an option to automatically spam rejecting/clean new registrations that matched a score during sign-up. For me, it's pretty simple. If you register and hit +6, I don't want to see the attempt. I want it dumped immediately. But I can no longer find this availability in the options. Am I missing something, or did this all somehow change?

Along those same lines, all users suddenly show up without catching the real IP. They're showing up as localhost, and/or 127.0.0.1. I'm not sure where to start looking for this.

We purchased the 3.x upgrade to get us current again, but I'm not installing PHP 3x on an entire server just to manage the forums. I'm not opposed to running a standalone instance of .nix and pushing out our 22-year-old forum that way, but it doesn't seem to me to be the best way to overcome the new problems I'm seeing running the forums.

Does anyone have guidance on the direction I should take? I'm surprised to see a requirement for PHP 3x in the 3 upgrade.

In the control panel, click the option menu at the top right (gears icon), and select the option at the bottom of the menu to display advanced options. Or, at the bottom of the spam options page, click the "Enable advanced mode" link.

Gotcha. I already tried that. When I tic the box that says "Show advanced options," the menu doesn't change. I assumed this meant I was already seeing the advanced options.

Here's a screengrab of the gears menu while checked. Which option from here?

The spam management group should display the settings you want as long as advanced options are shown.
