Using Chat GPT for Forum Tutorials

I've been revamping my tutorials and discovered that Chat GPT knows XenForo very well. The results only require a bit of tweaking and were much better than my efforts!

For example Chat GPT. Write a Tutorial for adding an image to a post in a xenforo forum.

A copy and paste of the result.

Whether you're sharing a stunning campsite view, a DIY fix, or a motorhome modification, images bring your posts to life. Here’s a step-by-step guide to adding images to your posts using the Forum powered by XenForo.




✅ Option 1: Upload Images Directly from Your Device​


📍 Works best for:​


Photos saved on your computer, phone, or tablet.


🔧 Steps:​


  1. Start a New Post or Reply
    • Click on "Post Thread" or "Reply" to an existing thread.
  2. Scroll to the Bottom of the Editor
    • Under the text box, you'll see a button:
      📎 Attach files
  3. Click “Attach files”
    • This opens your device's file browser.
    • Select the image(s) you want to upload.
    • You can select multiple images by holding down Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) while clicking.
  4. Wait for the Upload
    • You’ll see a small thumbnail appear once the image is uploaded.
  5. Insert Image Into the Post
    • Beneath the thumbnail, you’ll see two buttons:
      • Thumbnail
      • Full image
    • Click Full image to insert the full-sized image into your post at the cursor location.
  6. Finish Your Post
    • Add your text, then click “Post thread” or “Post reply.”



✅ Option 2: Insert Images Using Copy & Paste​


📍 Works best for:​


Images copied from another website or screenshots.


🔧 Steps:​


  1. Copy the Image
    • Right-click an image on a website and choose “Copy image”
      (Or use a screenshot tool to copy an image to your clipboard.)
  2. Paste Directly Into the Post Editor
    • Click into the message box and press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (Mac)
    • The image will automatically upload and appear in your post.
  3. Optional: Click the Image to Resize or Align
  4. Post as Normal



✅ Option 3: Embed Images Hosted Elsewhere​


📍 Works best for:​


Users hosting images on sites like Imgur, Flickr, or personal blogs.


🔧 Steps:​


  1. Get the Direct Image URL
    • It must end in .jpg, .png, or .gif
    • Right-click the image and select “Copy image address” or similar.
  2. Click the “Insert image” Icon in the Editor
    • It looks like a small photo 🖼️ in the formatting toolbar.
  3. Paste the Image URL
    • Click Insert, and the image will appear in your post.



🔒 A Few Notes:​


  • File Size Limits: Large images may be resized automatically, but most standard images will upload without issue.
  • Animated GIFs: These can be uploaded just like photos, and will play in the post.
  • Drag-and-Drop: You can also drag image files directly into the editor from your desktop!
