I have created a custom user field (radio buttons to show age) that is editable only once. I understand, that once it has been edited once by a user, then there is no need for it to show in account details.

However as a new user field, until users have had the chance to choose their choice of radio button, the user field needs to show, otherwise they can't choose one of the buttons.

Seems like a bug, or is there something I missed?

Automated triage: Awaiting feedback

Thank you for reporting this issue. An 'editable once' field should show in account details for any member who hasn't set it yet. It is hidden once the member has a value, or if the field is in another display group or restricted to certain user groups. We need a little more detail to look into this.

  • Which display group is the field in (Personal details, Contact details or Preferences)? Preferences fields appear on the Preferences page, not Account details.
  • Under 'Editable by user groups' for the field, is 'All user groups' selected, or only some groups? Is the account you tested with in one of them?
  • Did the account you tested with already have a value for this field, for example one chosen at registration or set by an admin when editing the user? Does the field still not appear for a member who has never set it?
  • Is the field set to show during registration or to be required?

This is an automated assessment. A member of staff may review and update it.
